Good evening everyone, how’s everyone doing? This is Robert, welcome to another entry in the Flipping the Script series. I finished work this evening and went for what should have been my normal 10km run. On my run I noticed all of the houses that had their Christmas lights up, it’s pretty clear that Christmas is quickly approaching and with it comes the end of the year and plans for 2025.
When it comes to marketing the agency, certainly in the past, there wasn’t much in the way of planning or preparing.
One year I can remember waiting until the start of the New Year and essentially spending 2 days planning where I want the business to be by the end of the year, each quarter and then finally weekly. However, this planning mainly focused on one thing, generating revenue rather on the actual task of marketing the business – which in the grand scheme of things is a little more vital.
I think the marketing plan overall was wing it and hope it sticks, certainly not the method you want use if you’re serious about improving your marketing or growing your agency.
Plans for 2025
And then, just like that my mind went blank. I’m sure many of us have been there, sitting down to pull together the tools and resources needed for the future only for your brain to decide, we’re not going there today.
Usually, this would be enough to see me walk away and come back to it another day, but this Flipping the Script series is all about taking a more structured and controlled approach to marketing.
For the agency, 2025 is going to be a year about consistency. I’ve already amped up my posting on LinkedIn, sending out connection requests and becoming more engaged in the LinkedIn community.
Some of the new tools that I’m introducing in 2025 include:
- Marketing Tracker
A tool that enables me to see what I’m going to be sending out and when, is it an email, a social media post, a blog post or similar. This will help ensure the agency is always visible and relevant to our audience. - Lead Generation Strategies
Rather than relying on sporadic efforts. I’ll be dedicating time to examining the results I have already gained from email marketing, social media and PPC. This will be my baseline. Over the the course of 2025 I’ll test and refine the marketing efforts of the agency. - Show Up
Networking and business events were once the cornerstone of the agency’s growth. However, time constraints have made it challenging to attend these events consistently. So, in 2025 I shall only be committing to events that I know I can attend, ensuring I make the most of these opportunities. - Client Retention
Something that I noticed I did a lot of in 2024 was go after new business while neglecting existing clients. For 2025, I’ll introduce more regular checks-in, provide offers and added value to ensure our clients are happy and engaged with our brand. - Personal Growth
Beyond the agency, I am looking forward to getting back out there and hitting some longer runs, there are a few runs I’d like to complete in 2025 including the Cathedral to Castle Run, the Two Castle Run, and perhaps an Ultramarathon. And of course I shall be continuing with this blogging series to keep myself accountable.
Key take aways
If you’re a business owner, whether it’s an agency or not, having a marketing plan in place will help you in the long run. It provides a sense of clarity on what you’re sending out, when and to whom.
From this marketing plan you can then begin to pull valuable data enabling you to see what is working and what needs refinement.
Here is how my planning for 2025 looks so far:
- Set a turnover target for the year
- Break that target down into quarters and then into a weekly revenue model
- Decide how you’re going to get there
- How many prospects do you need?
- How many of those prospects do you need to convert into a lead?
- How many of those leads do you need to convert into a sale?
- Analyse and improve either the marketing message or how you’re approaching prospecting/lead generation
The New Year ahead is full of possibilities, and with a solid plan in place, you can be ready to take it on. So tell me how are you planning for 2025? Let me know in the comments below.
