Just another runners blog

Just another runners blog

Back in March this year I started a new blog called Road to Trail, to essentially document my journey from being a road runner to becoming  a trail runner.

Despite trying to keep in top of it with new articles, its not been possible, so have added those posts to this blog.

I know what you’re thinking, just another runners blog. Just another post on the web crammed with tips on how you can be at your best when you feel at your absolute worse.

Perhaps you’re expecting reviews on the latest trainers, or the latest compression socks to make your runs so smooth that it feels like you’re walking on the clouds.

I hate to disappoint but that’s not what this blog is about.

I’m documenting my journey from being a road runner to being a trail runner.

So a bit about me.

  • I’m 6ft 1, weigh approximately 210lbs
  • I run 3 – 4 times a week on smooth asphalt around my local city centre
  • The other days I spend weightlifting for up to an hour a day
  • I can run a total of 21km without much of a problem
  • I attempted the Exmoor Ultra Marathon in 2022 with a single 8k trail run in my pocket and with stress fractures to my left foot – I pulled out at 22.5km.

This will be a blog that won’t promise to be unlike any other that has gone before it. This will be a blog that will document the good, the bad, and the downright ugly of my journey of becoming a trail runner.

You will hear the stories of my successes, the anguish of my failures, and the ramblings of my own mind as I begin to become a trail runner.

If you find some inspiration in my story of becoming a trail runner, wonderful. However, this is a personal journey that will consist of pictures, videos, and other media to showcase the journey from start to finish.

My goal: To complete the Exmoor Ultra Marathon on the 22nd July 2023.
