Hey everyone, 2021 has landed and here in the UK, today we begin our very first day of lockdown 3.0.
Last year, I setup this blog to purely begin pushing my programming and technical know how, the fact you’re able to read this is already showing progress is being made.
I’ve finally, managed to finish updating the core WordPresss to its latest version, following what should have been an easy fix. The issue was that I didn’t upload the most recent core files that live outside the admin and includes directory, lesson learned for next time I have to do an update.
File Permissions
I’ve finally resolved this issue, I can now install plugins and themes on the fly, I’ve not yet tried to upgrade WordPress from the backend yet.
I’ve had to try and understand groups and users, and there is still a bit of work to be done in this area, however the good news is this challenge has been broken down somewhat.
Domain Updates
This year I’ll be continuing to clear out those pesky unwanted domain names, according to my excel spreadsheet I’m looking to save a whopping £340 throughout this year.
Looking forward to getting started, removing those domains no longer needed and really becoming more focused and laser sighted.
I’ll update this on a quarterly basis.
Design Understanding
Something that has recently been noticed is my lack, or perhaps ignorance, to the concept and importance of design.
As a programmer, I tend not to look at a design too much, instead I look at the flow, the psychology of how a user will interact with the design, what they will see first, what’s important above and below the fold and so forth.
However, something I’ve noticed is my understanding and knowledge of design is a lot lower than it should be.
If I’m to get the business, and indeed myself to be uncommon amongst the common then a lot of development is going to have to take place, to this end I’m adding Design as another area of improvement.
Project Activ8
To start off the New Year, and to really start making progress on pushing my programming know how, I’ll be completing a project I started during lockdown 1.0
This project will cover a brand new website and mobile app.
