25. Making Improvements

Hey everyone, Robert Haylor here, it has been sometime since my previous post where I talked about leads and how to generate them via your website.  I hope you downloaded your free copy of the lead generation checklist, the content is well worth the download.

I started the Flipping the script series as a way of giving this website purpose, a way to essentially hold me to account, to do what I said I was going to do, post for 365 days.  I’ve missed quite a few of those, a combination of illness, picking up the marketing efforts for the agency and focusing on client work has resulted in this challenge taking a little bit of a back seat.

I’ve just finished updating my food diary, another thing that I start and sometimes lose track of, and I was looking over the food consumed, water consumed, the physical activity and so on.  Essentially my food diary is a way of monitoring my own key performance indicators.  I’ve been doing this on and off for 4 years

I can’t get hung up on the lack of consistency, I am still showing up, I still wrote on my blog, twice last month, and the posts that I have missed I am sure I will catch-up on over the coming months, yes it’s going to mean doubling up on the posting for a period of time but that’s ok, that’s all part of the process.

It’s the action, not necessarily perfection.

Some improvements

Marketing Activity:

  • More emails were sent in the last month than in the entire of 2024
  • Increased the number of posts on social media
  • Hosted 4 new workshops
  • Posted our first YouTube video of 2025 – with more to follow
  • Posted our Boost Your Digital Media publication

As a result of all of this marketing activity we have increased our leads, contacts and opportunities for 2025.

Food:

I’m eating well, around 70% of the time, I’d like to improve this to 80%, and the only way to do that is to cut out some of the treats that have crept in:

  • Chocolate – I’m a huge lover but sometimes this causes bloating and doesn’t make me feel all that great.
  • Crisps – Another guilty pleasure – one week I smashed through 2 large bags of these, never a good thing
  • Protein filled “healthy” bars – I love grenade bars and Trek Coco Flapjacks – full of false sugars and only really good if on a major run.
  • Increase water in take, on the days you’re drinking 2L hit or 4L.

So cutting some or all of this out would be a great start to proceedings.

Eating at the same time would be another great place to start, I’ve noticed some mornings I’m eating at 06:00 and others, 07:00 and weekends a little later.  It would be good to get this more in line so that my body knows when to expect food, and how long it has to go till its next meal.

So some slight adjustments are going to be made these next 2 weeks, I’ve also registered myself for the Cathedral to Castle to run, so training shall be starting for that, and I’d like to be in killer shape to handle those 10 miles.

Have a great day.
